Issaquah,WA : Bicyclist run over by car, killed at North Issaquah intersection on September, Friday 22th 2017
A 69-year-old bicyclist was run over by an SUV and killed Friday morning near a major North Issaquah intersection, police said.
Police and medics responded to the scene, near the intersection of East Lake Sammamish Parkway and SE 56th Street, at about 11:20 a.m. after receiving reports of a bad accident.
The male bicyclist was pinned underneath the vehicle when first responders arrived.
The bicyclist was extricated out from under the SUV and pronounced dead. No other information was immediately available about the victim.
According to witness reports, an Issaquah woman was driving the small white SUV south on East Lake Sammamish Parkway and turned right onto 56th Street.
Meanwhile, the cyclist was heading south on the East Lake Sammamish Trail and was in the crosswalk with the "walk" signal flashing when the crash occurred, police said.
The driver is cooperating with the investigation. Several agencies responded to the incident, including Issaquah police, Washington State Patrol and Eastside Fire and Rescue.
The roadway was closed at the scene after the crash. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
