Lexington County, SC : Teacher assistant injured in crash involving school bus on Highway 321 near Gaston on Friday morning, October 28, 2016

Lexington School District 2 says a teacher assistant was injured in a crash involving a school bus Friday morning.

Jim Hinton tells WIS the teacher assistant was taken to the hospital "but will be okay." Hinton says six kids were on board the bus and they did not appear to be injured.

The bus is for special needs students at Davis Elementary School. The driver was not injured.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the crash occurred just before 7:30 Friday on Highway 321 at Woodcote Drive near Gaston. Troopers say the driver of the school bus will be cited.

Hinton says the district will cooperate with the investigation.

The students were taken to the school to be checked out by the nurse and their parents were notified.
