Prescott, AZ : Woman killed in hit-and-run near Prescott Country Club on Monday, December 22, 2014

Authorities in north-central Arizona say they are investigating a hit-and-run accident that killed a 70-year-old woman. Yavapai County Sheriff's officials say the woman is believed to a Prescott Country Club resident, but her name is being withheld until relatives can be notified. Deputies were called to the scene about 6:30 a.m. Monday after a dead body was discovered in the roadway near the country club. They believe the woman had been hit by a vehicle. Luggage belonging to the victim was found near her body and investigators say it appears she was heading to the Maverick Country Store on Highway 69 to catch shuttle transportation. Authorities are trying to locate any possible witnesses to the fatal hit-and-run and any information on the vehicle and driver involved.
