Purvis, MS : One person killed in a single-vehicle accident in Lamar County on Friday night, March 11, 2016

One person was killed in a single-vehicle accident Friday night in Lamar County.

Just before 6 p.m., Lamar County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the accident in the 4400 block of Old Highway 11, near Windridge Drive.

“The vehicle left the roadway and struck a culvert and flipped a couple of times,” Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel said. “There were two people inside the vehicle, a man and woman, the female died at the scene, and the male was taken to Forrest General with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.”

The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin.

Rigel added the cause of the wreck is under investigation and it is not believed to be weather related.
