Dearborn, MI : Boy, 12, critically injured in I-94 crash in the eastbound lanes at Schaefer on Friday, 6th March, 2020

Two lanes of I-94 were closed early Friday morning as state police investigated a crash that critically injured a 12-year-old boy.

The Michigan State Police reported on its Twitter account that a crash occurred at 4 a.m. in the eastbound lanes at Schaefer in Dearborn.

"Preliminary investigation revealed that a semi truck entered eastbound I-94 from Schaefer," the MSP tweeted. "As the truck was getting up to speed, a 2017 Chrysler 300 was traveling eastbound and crashed into the back of the trailer."

The woman driving the car was seriously injured, as well, police said, and the truck driver was not injured.

One lane remained open during the investigation.
