Allentown, PA : Two motorcyclists killed in Route 33 crash after rider strikes deer on Monday, 5th September 2016

Two motorcyclists died early Monday morning in a chain-reaction crash after one of the motorcyclists hit a deer, state police at Belfast reported.

Police identified the men killed as Gregory J. Conroy of Stroudsburg and Sean P. Aris of Pocono Pines. Both men were 25, state police said.

The crash was reported at 1:51 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Route 33 near Kromer Road between the Belfast and Wind Gap interchanges.

The road was closed until about 7:30 a.m. while state police investigated.

Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek said both men died of multiple blunt-force traumatic injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

State police said a report from Northampton County emergency dispatchers that a tractor-trailer was involved in the crash was inaccurate.
