Two people ejected in crash in Salem Oregon

A Chevy Blazer rolled over on Interstate 93 South late yesterday afternoon, ejecting the driver and a passenger in a one-vehicle accident involving serious injuries for at least one of the victims.

City and state police responded to the crash shortly before 4:30 p.m, near Exit 46.

State Police closed the southbound side of the highway to allow a medical helicopter to land to transport one of the injured people to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. The other victim was taken by ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital.

State Police released few details about the crash, which left the Blazer overturned on its roof and leaning up against the median guardrail.

Rubber marks on the left lane of the highway curved sharply toward the median barrier near the crash area. Clothes, laundry baskets and cleaning materials were strewn along the grass median.

Traffic was snarled from the crash between the Pelham Street exit in Methuen back to the Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem, N.H. On the northbound side, traffic was lined up from the crash past Interstate 495.

State Police late last night said they would not provide any further information about the crash until sometime today.
