COLUMBIA, SC : 1 person dies in crash during RCSD chase, causes Interstate I-126 shutdown on Friday, 29th December 2023

One person died in a crash on Interstate I-126 Friday afternoon during a chase with deputies.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD) said they began chasing a person who was wanted out of Lexington County on narcotics charges. Deputies attempted to pull over the suspect, driving a Nissan, at around 2:30 p.m.

The suspect failed to stop as directed, the sheriff’s department said.

The chase began on Bush River and I-126, according to RCSD.
