KERSHAW COUNTY, SC : Head-on crash kills 2 in Kershaw Co.on Wednesday, 26th October 2016

Two people were killed in a head-on crash overnight in Kershaw County, according to the Coroner.

David West tells WIS the crash occurred at about midnight Wednesday on U.S. 1 near West Drive in Cassatt. A tractor-trailer was headed north on U.S. 1 and a pickup truck was southbound when they collided.

West says the drivers of both vehicles were ejected and died at the scene. He identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Chad Sullivan, 41, of Lancaster County. The driver of the pickup was Laney Bowen, 42, of Lugoff.

West says investigators did not find Sullivan's body until much later, when it was located under the wreckage.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances of the crash. Troopers say Bowen's pickup crossed into the path of the tractor-trailer, causing the tractor-trailer to go off the road.
