Daybreak,UT : 71-year-old man injured in pickup collided trailer pulled by a dump truck near Daybreak Park on Friday May 27, 2016.

A 71-year-old man was injured when his pickup collided with a trailer pulled by a dump truck near Daybreak Park Friday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the crash at the three-way intersection of Northeast Daybreak Road, Northeast and 269th Street and Hyatt Road, reported around 8 a.m., Clark County Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Dawdy said.

When crews arrived they found that a pickup and a double dump truck had collided, Dawdy said. Crews extricated the man from the pickup and took him to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, Dawdy said.

Clark County Sheriff’s Sgt. Craig Randall said the dump truck, which was pulling a trailer on a long boom, was making a left turn after yielding to another vehicle coming down the hill.

A second vehicle, the pickup, came down the grade and into the trailer boom, and the front wheels of the trailer struck, and likely went over the front of, the pickup, Randall said.

The dump truck “just couldn’t get enough momentum” to make the turn in time, he said.

Randall said the pickup driver suffered minor injuries, and the dump truck driver was not injured. No citations were issued.

Two engines and two battalion chiefs responded along with medics from AMR and deputies from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
