Hanover, PA : Son grabs wheel, causes car crash, police say on Monday, 29th August, 201
An 18-year-old man allegedly caused a crash after he grabbed the steering wheel while his mother was driving, according to a Maryland State Police news release.
Devin Harbison, 18, of Elkridge, Maryland, and his mother, Susan Harbison, 51, of Mount Airy were believed to have been arguing while driving in a blue Honda sedan on Route 27 on Friday, Aug. 26. Devin Harbison allegedly grabbed the wheel causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and run into the front yard of a residence, the release states.
The vehicle hit a basketball hoop, a tree and other debris stacked against a house in the 4300 block of Ridge Road in Mount Airy, Maryland, before it stopped at the front of the residence's garage, according to the release.
Westminster Barrack Troopers, Carroll County Sheriff's Office Deputies and emergency medical providers responded to the scene. Susan Harbison was flown to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, and Devin Harbison was taken to Carroll Hospital Canter by ambulance, the release states.
?Devin Harbison has been charged with attempted second degree murder, first and second degree assault and reckless endangerment after allegedly causing the crash and injuring his mother, the release states.
He was being held at Carroll County Central Booking, but was released Aug. 27, according to online court documents.
