Columbus, OH : A 66-year-old Orrville man was killed in a three-vehicle crash on April, Thursday 20th 2017
DALTON An investigation is continuing into a three-vehicle crash that killed a 66-year-old Orrville man on U.S. Route 30 just west of the Stark-Wayne county line.
Larry Pauli was driving a Ford F-150 pickup Tuesday morning west on U.S. Route 30 when his vehicle was struck in the rear by a Volvo tractor-trailer, which also was westbound on the highway. The 39-year-old driver, from Athens County, was not able to stop the tractor-trailer in time, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
The impact forced Pauli’s truck into the rear of another westbound Volvo tractor-trailer. The pickup truck that Pauli was driving caught on fire. Pauli was dead at the scene, according to the state patrol.
The 39-year-old tractor-trailer driver was transported to Aultman-Dunlap Hospital in Orrville with non-incapacitating injuries. The other tractor-trailer driver not injured. The crash, which was in Wayne County’s Sugar Creek Township, remains under investigation.
Alcohol was not believed to be factor in the crash. Charges are possible.
