Punta Gorda ,FL : One dead, one injured in crash on Friday afternoon ,July 10th 2015
One person died, and another was injured in a Charlotte County crash Friday afternoon.
The crash happened on Deep Creek Boulevard and Sandhill Boulevard in Punta Gorda around 4:30 p.m.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Mazda was going south on Deep Creek Boulevard approaching the intersection Sandhill Boulevard.
At the same time, a Cadillac was going west on Sandhill Boulevard approaching the intersection.
The driver of the Mazda failed to stop at a stop sign and continued into the intersection. The Mazda crashed into the Cadillac.
The collision also caused the Cadillac to hit the front end of another vehicle.
The driver of the Cadillac – identified as 61-year-old Thomas Hoffman - was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital. He was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Mazda – identified as 74-year-old Joseph Hynes - was taken to Fawcett Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Hynes was cited for running a stop sign.
