Baton Rouge, LA : Mississippi woman dies in single vehicle crash in East Feliciana Parish on Wednesday, 23rd May 2018

A Mississippi woman who wasn't wearing a seat belt died Wednesday afternoon after she drove off the side of a road and into a ditch in East Feliciana Parish, State Police said.

Connie Travis, 46, of Liberty, Mississippi, was driving south on La. 964 north of La. 68 around 2 p.m. when she crossed the centerline and ran off the left side of the road into a ditch, hitting an embankment and flipping multiple times, said Senior Trooper Bryan Lee, a spokesman for the State Police. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said they did not know why Travis drove off the road, but they are continuing their investigation. They do not suspect impairment as a factor in the crash, but they will take a toxicology sample for analysis, Lee said.
