Greenwood, SC : Abbeville County deputy involved in wreck on Friday, January, 19th 2018
Greenwood, South Carolina
An Abbeville County Sheriff’s Office patrol car had to be towed after a two-vehicle wreck Jan. 9 on S.C. Highway 20.
No one was injured in the wreck, said Chief Deputy Natalie Talbert, and neither car had any passengers.
At 10:12 a.m. Jan. 9, Abbeville County deputy Kala Schultz was driving a 2017 Ford SUV west on S.C. Highway 20 near Central Shiloh Road when she rear ended a 2008 Volkswagen four door heading in the same direction that had slowed to make a left turn, said trooper Justin Sutherland with the state Highway Patrol.
Schultz was charged with driving too fast for conditions, Sutherland said.
Abbeville County Sheriff Ray Watson said no disciplinary action was taken in relation to the wreck.
“It’s unfortunate that this happened,” Watson said, “but the main thing is at least both drivers walked away uninjured and alright.”
Talbert said the sheriff’s office had not yet received an estimate on how much repairs to the patrol car would cost.
