Hamilton, MI : Teenager dies from injuries after sled hits tree in Allegan County on Saturday, January 2, 2016

A teenager has died in western Michigan's Allegan County after his sled crashed into a tree.

Authorities say the sled was being pulled by a vehicle Saturday on private property near Hamilton, 45 miles southwest of Grand Rapids. The victim is 15-year-old Mason Dykstra.

The Hamilton school district opened the high school Sunday for anyone to gather and talk. The school says on Twitter: "Our world was rocked and our hearts are heavy."

Principal Tim Reeves says Mason was a good kid — "all the way around." A brother graduated last spring from Hamilton High, and another brother is a current student. Their mother works for the school district.
