Lakeland, FL : Eustis man killed in work-zone hit-and-run accident on early Wednesday morning July 23rd 2014

A construction worker from Eustis was hit, killed and dragged by a vehicle early Wednesday morning, Lakeland police say.

The victim, Shelby K. Shull, 44, was installing crosswalks near the 2600 block of South Florida Avenue in Lakeland when a co-worker heard several loud thumping sounds.

The co-worker then found several traffic barrels damaged and Shull lying in the road.

Police said that Shull's body came to final rest approximately 80 feet from point of impact and that Shull was wearing reflective safety clothing.

The co-worker saw a dark-colored truck fleeing the scene but couldn't provide any make or model. The vehicle was traveling south on South Florida Avenue.
