COLORADO SPRINGS, CO : Crash in Colorado Springs causes major diesel spill on Wednesday, 28th August 2024
Colorado Springs, Colorado
The Colorado Springs Fire Department reported that around 50 gallons of diesel was spilled in a crash with a diesel tank in Southeast Colorado Springs.
CSFD was at the scene of the crash at Wahsatch Ave. and East Las Animas St. around 2:52 p.m. on Wednesday. They said the diesel truck was punctured, and they believe the truck held around 100 gallons of diesel.
At 3:37, CSPD said they believed about 50 gallons of diesel had spilled into Shooks Run Creek through a stormwater drain. Hazmat 14 used absorbent socks in the creek in hopes of keeping the diesel from spreading.
They said a vacuum truck and reclamation team were on the way to assist.
