Glasgow, KY : Fatal accident involves Glasgow woman and vehicle on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016
At approximately 5:19 p.m. on Saturday the Glasgow Police Department responded to a report of an accident with injuries "vehicle vs. pedestrian" at the intersection of North Jackson Highway and Hutcheson Road, according to a GPD press release.
Upon arrival, the GPD discovered that Geneva Morgan, 82, of Glasgow had been traveling west on Hutcheson Road when she stopped at the intersection of Hutcheson Road and North Jackson Highway, according to the press release. Morgan exited her vehicle and attempted to remove debris that was lying in the roadway when she was struck by a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria traveling South, driven by James Kitchens, 59, of Edmonton.
Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene by Barren County Coroner Tim Gibson, according to the press release. Kitchens was not injured in the accident.
Glasgow Police Officer Steven Fields investigated the accident and was assisted by Lt. Jimmy Phelps, Sgt. Terry Flatt and Sgt. Justin Kirkpatrick, according to the press release. The Glasgow Fire Department and the Barren-Metcalfe County Emergency Medical Service also assisted at the scene.
According to the press release, the GPD does not suspect that alcohol or drugs played a role in this accident.
