Erlanger, KY : 65-year-old woman dead and another man injured after a serious collision on eastbound I-275 and Dixie Highway on Sunday morning, March 15, 2015
A woman has died following a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 275.
The crash happened on eastbound I-275, past I-74, at the 83.4 mile marker around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
Investigators said it is believed a Chevrolet S10 driven by a 79-year-old Covington man may have come to a stop in a lane of traffic on I-275 and a van driven by a 65-year-old Tennessee woman was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision.
Police said two injured people were taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.
Officials said the man was alert and conscious when he was taken to the hospital. His current condition was not known.
The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. Her name was not immediately released.
The highway was shut down for approximately two hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be reckless driving, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
