ROANOKE, VA : Police chase leads to suspect crash on Friday, 2nd February 2024

The road has been reopened.The Roanoke Police Department is asking residents to avoid the area of 5th St NW. 5th Street NW is closed from Harrison Ave NW to Patton Ave NW due to a crash, and the intersection of 5th Street and Fairfax Ave NW is closed.

Police say a driver crashed into two other vehicles and a house after a brief pursuit with Roanoke Police. Officers had been trying to serve warrants on the driver of the vehicle, and found him in the 300 block of Hackley Ave NW. He saw officers and drove off speeding, according to police, before losing control of the truck and crashing.

Roanoke Fire-EMS took the suspect to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained during the crash, according to police, who say no other serious injuries were reported.
