DELMAR, DE : One man is dead and six are injured after a crash on Friday, August 4, 2017

Police say one man is dead and six are injured after a crash between a truck and an SUV at a Delaware intersection.

Delaware State Police say the accident occurred Friday evening at the intersection of Pepperbox and Whitesville roads near Delmar.

According to police, a Ford Expedition driven by 32-year-old Mario Martinez-Jimenez failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by a Ford F-150 driven by a 75-year-old Laurel man. The SUV overturned.

Police say an unidentified passenger in the SUV died at the scene. Martinez-Jimenez and four other passengers suffered injuries and were taken to hospitals.

The truck driver was treated at a hospital and released.

Police say charges are expected, and they are investigating whether Martinez-Jimenez was impaired at the time of the crash.
