Olive Township, MI : 3 injured in 2 separate school bus crashes on Thursday, 29th September 2016
Three people were injured in two separate crashes Thursday morning involving school buses connected with operations at the Careerline Tech Center, officials said.The bus driver in the first crash — Patricia Vereeke, 50, of Hudsonville — sought her own treatment for injuries.
Twenty-five students on the bus she was driving from Allendale going to the Tech Center were not injured. The driver of the car involved in the first crash — Aron Lyon, 17, of West Olive — also was not injured.
The drivers in the second crash, involving another school bus and a semi-truck, were both in stable condition at Zeeland Community Hospital.
The first crash occurred at 7:42 a.m. at 120th Avenue and Polk Street. The second crash happened at 7:54 a.m. near the Tech Center on Port Sheldon Street, east of 136th Avenue.
The bus in the second crash was going to pick up the students from the bus involved in the first crash, said Sgt. Derek Christensen of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.
