Mandeville, LA : Pedestrian struck, killed in St. Tammany Parish crash on U.S Highway 190 Monday night, December 29, 2014
A pedestrian was struck and killed on Monday evening while attempting to retrieve a ladder that fell from the back of his truck.
The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday on US-190 northbound between Judge Tanner Blvd. and I-12 in St. Tammany Parish.
Joseph Robinson, 27 of Lacombe, was killed. Preliminary investigation revealed that Robinson was wearing dark clothing while attempting to retrieve a ladder that fell from the back of his truck, according to Louisiana State Police.
Timothy Greenlay, 64 of Mandeville, was traveling northbound on US-190 in the center lane when he struck Robinson, troopers say. Robinson was transported to Lakeview Regional Medical Center where he later died.
Greenlay and his 14-year-old passenger were both restrained and received no injuries, officials say. He submitted to a breath test which indicated there was no alcohol in his system.
Troopers say impairment is not suspected on Robinson's part. However, a toxicological analysis is pending. This crash remains under investigation.
