A pedestrian was struck and killed on Monday evening while attempting to retrieve a ladder that fell from the back of his truck.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday on US-190 northbound between Judge Tanner Blvd. and I-12 in St. Tammany Parish.

Joseph Robinson, 27 of Lacombe, was killed. Preliminary investigation revealed that Robinson was wearing dark clothing while attempting to retrieve a ladder that fell from the back of his truck, according to Louisiana State Police.

Timothy Greenlay, 64 of Mandeville, was traveling northbound on US-190 in the center lane when he struck Robinson, troopers say. Robinson was transported to Lakeview Regional Medical Center where he later died.
