Ridgeland, MS : Deputy hurt in crash on the Ridgeland side of the Spillway on Tuesday, Aug 18, 2015

A Rankin County deputy crashed into a guardrail on the Ridgeland side of the Spillway on Tuesday, authorities said.

The deputy was taken to University of Mississippi Medical Center. The deputy’s condition was not released.

The deputy was in pursuit of a driver suspected of reckless driving, lost control and crashed, according to the Rankin County Sheriff's Department.

Traffic in the area was backed up.
