Driver killed when concrete crashes through windshield

A central Kentucky man was killed in a freak accident Wednesday.

The 63-year-old died after a piece of concrete went through his windshield.

The coroner said the victim was driving to work in Jessamine County when a dump truck going in the opposite direction hit the concrete, sending the concrete into the air.

It hit him in the head and he died instantly.

"It was smaller than a football, came through with quite a bit of force and killed the driver. We're looking at surveillance to see if anyone picked it up if a dump truck picked it up off the road," said Nicholasville police Sgt. Scott Harvey.

The coroner said the man was less than a mile from his office when the accident happened.
