IONIA, MI : Driver transported to hospital after two-car crash in Ionia on Sunday, 11th August 2019

A driver was transported to the hospital after a two-car crash on Sunday night in Ionia in which police believe alcohol was a contributing factor.

Around 10 p.m. Aug. 11, Ionia County sheriff’s deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash in Ionia, according to a press release from the sheriff’s department.

An Ionia man driving north on Fourth Street near East Bluewater Highway (M-21) was attempting to turn eastbound on M-21 and collided with a vehicle driven by a Pewamo resident, police said.

One driver suffered significant injury to his head and ankle and was taken to Sparrow Main Hospital for treatment, police said. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor, police added.


The incident is still under investigation.
