NEW PORT RICHEY, FL : Brooksville motorcyclist, 57, dies in crash with SUV on Saturday, 13th October 2018

A motorcyclist died Saturday night after a crash with a sport utility vehicle on Old County Road 54, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Terry Eugene Bennett, 57 of Brooksville, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on the road about 5:04 p.m. At the same time, troopers reported, Ernest F. Jackson, 93 of New Port Richey, was driving a Honda CR-V eastbound on the road.

Jackson started to turn left onto Saint Lawrence Drive, into Bennett’s path, the FHP reported. The vehicles collided, throwing Bennett from his motorcycle and causing Jackson’s SUV to swerve and crash into a stop sign.

Bennett was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, where he later died, according to the FHP. Jackson was uninjured.

Jackson was given a citation for violation of the right-of-way, troopers reported.
