East Toledo, OH : Driver, passenger suffer life-threatening injuries in east Toledo crash on Thursday, 25th July 2019

One person suffered fatal injuries and another was seriously injured in a one-vehicle wreck in east Toledo on Thursday morning.

The crash happened at Front Street and Dearborn around 5:30 a.m. Police say the 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling northbound in the 1600 block of Front Street when it veered off the road to the right and crashed head-on into a pole.Toledo Police said passenger Donald Johnson, 57, of Swanton, was transported to St. Vincent Hospital, where he later died of blunt force trauma. The driver, Marion Leininger Jr., 27, also of Swanton, was taken to St. Vincent with serious injuries.

Fire officials say the Leininger was conscious when they rescued him from the vehicle.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing, Toledo Police said.
