North Aurora, IL : 21-year-old man killed, another injured 2-vehicle collision at Route 31 and Mooseheart Road in North Aurora on Tuesday morning, March 29, 2016

A 21-year-old man killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Route 31 near North Aurora has been identified as Jose Quill of Aurora, police said.

The crash occurred at about 10:23 a.m. on Route 31 north of Mooseheart Road in unincorporated Batavia Township, according to a Kane County Sheriff's Office press release. A 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling north on Route 31 and for an unknown reason crossed into the southbound lane of traffic and struck a 2010 Ford pickup truck head-on.

Quill was driving the Trailblazer and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup, Brandon Haller, 24, of Maple Park, was transported to Delnor Hospital for treatment of what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Kane County Sheriff’s detectives and investigators from the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are continuing to investigate the crash. Detectives have not determined if drugs, alcohol, texting or excessive speed played a role in this crash, according to the news release.

No tickets have been issued. Route 31 was closed until about 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
