An Ionia woman is in stable condition and recovering from injuries sustained this morning in an accident involving a semi-truck on I-96.
Eastbound I-96 in Ionia County was closed for several hours due to a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck Tuesday morning, April 17. According to WOOD-TV8, the crash happened around 4:45 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near Portland Road, exit 73, in Portland Township.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Lakeview Post said a semi-truck was heading eastbound when the driver began to slow down for traffic. The driver lost control, ran off the road and overturned. Another vehicle lost control then struck the trailer of the semi-truck.

The highway was closed between the 73 and 76 mile marker for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene.
