A man accused in a crash that claimed the life of a Johnson County, Kansas, sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop last year
Adrian Espinosa-Flores pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, the prosecutor's office announced Thursday.
Investigators alleged that Espinosa-Flores was driving on U.S. 69 near 143rd Street early on Sept. 11, 2016, when he struck Master Deputy Brandon Collins' cruiser.
Collins had pulled over an SUV on the highway because one of the front headlights was out. The deputy had just returned to his patrol car when he was struck.
Sentencing is set for Jan. 12.
