Titusville, FL : Passenger, 14, killed in crash on Interstate 95 in Brevard County on Friday, June 17, 2016

A teenaged passenger died Friday in crash on Interstate 95 in Brevard County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident happened just before 11 p.m. Troopers say Jarret Alan Blair, 14, was a passenger of a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse that was traveling northbound on I-95.

The car was speeding and for an unknown reason it left the roadway and traveled onto the center paved emergency lane. The car struck a guardrail before coming to a stop, stated the FHP.

Blair, who is from Mims, was not wearing a seatbelt.

It is not known if the 19-year-old driver, also from Mims, was wearing a seatbelt. She was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center and, at last check, was listed as having serious injuries, the FHP noted.

The FHP stated that alcohol was not involved.

The crash remains under investigation.
