CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA : Frankston woman dies in Hwy. 175 crash on Wednesday, 1st August 2018
A two-vehicle automobile accident claimed the life of a Frankston woman Wednesday evening and sent a Lufkin man to the hospital with significant injuries.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred at 6:24 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. Hwy. 175, about six miles west of Jacksonville.
The troopers' preliminary crash investigation report indicated that the driver of a 2002 Dodge Ram, Ervey Alejandro Zuniga, 19, of Lufkin was traveling east on Hwy. 175 when for unknown reasons he drifted into the on-coming lane of traffic.
The left-front portion of Zuniga's vehicle collided with a 2010 Mazda M3G that was driven by Stacie Stallings Means, 49, of Frankston, who was traveling west on the roadway.
Means was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct No. 3 Justice of the Peace Phillip Grimes. Her body was transported to Boren-Conner Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Zuniga was taken to UT Health-Tyler and is listed in serious condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
