OCALA, FL : Man crashes into utility pole near busy intersection on April, Wednesday 5th 2017
A 21-year-old Ocala man accidentally slammed his Mustang into the side of a wooden utility pole Wednesday morning, almost snapping the pole in half in the middle and creating traffic problems at a busy city intersection on State Road 200. He was not injured.
Utility workers on scene said they will have to replace the pole because of the damage. The crash, which blocked traffic for westbound motorists, occurred in the 400 block of Southwest 10th Street (S.R. 200).
Sean B. Burham of Ocala was ticketed by an Ocala Police Department officer for careless driving and no proof of insurance.
According to the officer, Burham was driving a 2007 Ford Mustang and was in a turn lane of South Pine Avenue. Burham told the officer when he turned the corner, the car slid and the driver’s side crashed into the utility pole.
