CHARLOTTE, N.C : Teenage boy crashes car into popular South End restaurant on Thursday night July 10th 2014

A 15-year-old boy crashed a vehicle into Mac’s Speed Shop on South Boulevard Thursday night injuring three people, according to officials.

The injuries were minor and no one was taken to the hospital.

Mac's Speed Shop is a well-known landmark in South End and was packed with people when a car crashed into the side of the building.

“I was just sitting outside and I heard a loud thud,” a witness said. “A little girl (was) holding her arm and the dad was about to go on a rampage. When the car backed through, it kicked the table out and hit her right in the middle of the stomach."

Police said the teen just received his learner's permit and his dad was in the car with him when he was attempting to park.

But while straightening out the car, he forgot he was still in reverse and crashed into the restaurant.

“We're all young,” said Barney Charles who calls Mac’s the most popular restaurant in the neighborhood. “Sometimes we just get nervous behind the wheel.”

He was there to pick up a to-go order and was shocked more people weren't hurt.

“It could have been a lot worse,” he said. “There is a lot of live music, people around -- a lot of young kids."

Police said the teen driver will most likely not be charged.
