A young woman was killed in a vehicle accident in northeast Charlotte Thursday, according to officials.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on the 700 block of Pavilion Boulevard. Investigators say a 20-year-old Haylee Christine Hilton was driving a 2013 Hyundai Sonata when she drove off the right side of the road and into a culvert.
Hilton's vehicle then went airborne before landing on its roof. Hilton, who police said was not wearing her seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers said that speed appears to have contributed to the crash.
Medic officials originally reported that two people were killed in the crash, but later said only one person was killed.
It is not clear if anyone else was injured.
Pavilion Blvd was closed around the area while emergency crews worked the scene.
