DES MOINES, IA : Serious injuries reported in crash south of downtown on Friday, August 25, 2017

Rescue crews were called to a crash south of downtown Des Moines just after 1 p.m. Friday.

The 2-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of Southeast 18th and MLK Jr. Parkway.Police at the scene told KCCI 8 News a southbound car collided with an eastbound truck on MLK.

There are reports of serious injuries in the crash. No other details have been released.

The crash is under investigation and police ask that drivers avoid the area.
