Hawthorne, CA : 47-year-old man killed in solo car crash on streets of Hawthorne early Monday, May 2, 2016

Officials are awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death for a 47-year-old man found dead behind the wheel of his car early Monday in Hawthorne.

The man, whose identity was not released, was driving north on Hawthorne Boulevard when he veered off the road near 136th Street, said Hawthorne police Lt. Ti Goetz. He drove over a curb and a grassy area and crashed into a pole at about 4:30 a.m., Goetz said.

There were no signs of drug or alcohol use in the car.
