Baton Rouge, LA : Man killed in single vehicle crash in Tangipahoa Parish on Friday, 21st October 2016
A 68-year-old man was killed in a single vehicle crash on Louisiana 442 in Tangipahoa Parish late Friday afternoon (Oct. 21), Louisiana State Police said. The victim was identified as Keil Albers of Husser, La.
Investigators determined that the crash occurred shortly before 5 pm, when a motorist named Gary Passman, 60, drove off the left side of the roadway while traveling westbound in a 1992 Mazda Miata. Albers was seated in the passenger seat.
The car traveled down an embankment before flipping over, state police said. Passman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to North Oaks Health Systems. Albers was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner's Office.State troopers do not suspect speed or impairment to be factors in the crash, police said. But as part of the investigation, authorities have obtained voluntary blood samples from Passman, which will be sent to the state police crime lab for analysis.
