Springfield,IL : Springfield man cited for drunken driving after crash on December, Friday 15th 2017

A 31-year-old Springfield man was allegedly driving drunk when he crashed into a fence and parked car Friday morning, authorities said.

In addition to suspected drunk driving, the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office said Roderick L. Campbell’s license was revoked and he did not have insurance.

The incident happened shortly before 5 a.m. Friday in the 700 block of North Daniel Avenue.

The sheriff’s office said witnesses reported seeing a vehicle travel at a high rate of speed before it began to skid, left the roadway and strike a fence and then a parked car.

The impact of the collision with the car caused Campbell’s vehicle to flip on its side, trapping him and two other people, a 26-year-old and 18-year-old woman, inside, the sheriff’s office said.

The two passengers were taken to HSHS St. John’s Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. A hospital spokeswoman said Monday Campbell remains at the hospital in good condition.
