HAMDEN, CT : Police ID Hamden man, 87, killed in crash on Thursday, 29th October, 2020

An 87-year-old local man died Thursday after a two-car motor vehicle accident that closed Shepard Avenue that morning.
Hamden police identified the deceased man later Thursday evening as Russell Riccio.
Police said they were dispatched to the scene of the accident in the 700 block of Shepard Avenue around 10:30 a.m.
Riccio was traveling north on the street when he struck another vehicle traveling southbound. His car then left the road, where it struck a tree, police said.
The man sustained serious injuries and was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds, police said.
