Fort Collins, CO : 83-year-old woman killed in Loveland crash on Friday morning, August 5, 2016
An 83-year-old woman fell while crossing a Loveland street and was fatally struck by a vehicle Friday morning.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was on the sidewalk at the southwest corner of the intersection of West 22nd Street and North Taft Avenue shortly before 10 a.m. The woman was attempting to walk north and the light was green for northbound traffic. The woman fell tin front of an oncoming vehicle driven by 59-year-old Joyce Keele, who was making a right-hand turn onto Taft, Loveland police wrote in a news release.
The woman was treated and transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Neither alcohol nor excessive speed are believed to have contributed to the wreck. Charges are pending.
The right-turn lane from West 22nd Street and the curb lane for southbound traffic on North Taft Avenue were closed for about an hour while officers with the Loveland police technical crash investigation team collected evidence and took witness statements. That area is near a residential area on the west side of Lake Loveland.
