Indian Springs, NC : Woman dies in wreck on Emmaus Church Road near the intersection of Stanley Chapel Church Road on Monday, 25th February 2019

An early morning traffic accident happened just before sunrise on Emmaus Church Road near the intersection of Stanley Chapel Church Road.

An almost head-on collision occurred around 5:45 that morning in front of 2564 Emmaus Church Road that sent three people to the hospital and left one dead at the scene.

Wayne County EMS Station 8 along with Dudley and Indian Springs firefighters were dispatched to the scene of a two-vehicle wreck with the possibility of entrapment. As the first unit arrived on the scene it was then upgraded to a pin-in.

Firefighters from both departments worked together and with their extrication tools managed to free the female driver of one of the vehicles. The driver and several other people from that vehicle were taken to the hospital. The driver of the small red vehicle, Myra Hernandez Labra, 24, of Dudley, died at the scene. Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies and North Carolina Department of Transportation officiails closed that section of highway between Stanley Chapel Church Road and Indian Springs Road to all traffic while emergency personnel and the North Carolina Highway Patrol conduct their investigation of the accident. The road was closed for approximately three hours.
