Topeka,KS : Topeka driver taken to hospital after falling asleep, crashing on I-70 in Wabaunsee County on August, Sunday 20th 2017

A 72-year-old Topeka man was taken to a local hospital Sunday morning after authorities said he fell asleep at the wheel and was possibly injured in a one-car crash in Wabaunsee County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at 11:10 a.m. on Interstate 70 at the Maple Hill exit.

The patrol said a 2006 Buick Rendezvous was eastbound on I-70 when the driver fell asleep and drove off the roadway, striking a guardrail.

The driver, identified as Terry A. Hoss, was transported to St. Francis Health in Topeka.

The patrol said Hoss was wearing a seat belt. Additional details weren’t immediately available.
