Lakeland , FL : 38 - years old person killed after he crossed the median and slammed into an oncoming tractor-trailer on Friday afternoon , February 13th 2015

A 38-year-old Apopka man was killed Friday afternoon in a Polk County crash along eastbound I-4 after he crossed the median and slammed into an oncoming tractor-trailer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Gary Andrew Brooks traveling westbound on I-4 in Lakeland around noon.

Thomas P. Hodges Jr., 45, of Titusville, was traveling eastbound on I-4 in the outside lane. For unknown reasons, Brooks lost control of his Lexus sedan. The car traveled across the median and into the eastbound lanes and collided with Hodges' tractor-trailer.

After the impact, the Lexus overturned and came to rest in the center eastbound lane of I-4.

Brooks died at the scene, a report states.

Hodges wasn't injured in the crash.
