NEW CASTLE, DE : Child, woman killed, 6 others injured in Delaware crash on Wednesday, 21st August 2024

A horrific late-night crash has claimed the lives of a woman and her child, sending six more victims, four of them children, to the hospital on Wednesday.

Police say a Dodge Caravan was struck by a speeding Kia when it ran a red light at the intersection of Christiana and Airport roads around 11:20 p.m.

Video obtained by FOX 29 of the horrific crash shows the Dodge making a left onto Airport Road, on a green light, according to Delaware State Police, when the Kia K-5, appearing to speed, police say, drives through the red light, striking the van and a Hyundai, attempting to turn right onto Christiana Road.

Police say the 29-year-old mother and her 10-year-old daughter were killed in the crash. Her four other children in the van were taken to the hospital with injuries they are expected to physically recover from.
