Wallingford, CT : Man seriously injured in motorcycle crash on North Colony Road and Pent Highway early Thursday afternoon, April 14, 2016

A local man was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries after an SUV reportedly pulled out in front his motorcycle early Thursday afternoon in Wallingford, police said in a press release.

The man, 23, suffered serious head injuries in the crash, which happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of North Colony Road and Pent Highway, police said.

A woman who was riding as a passenger on the motorcycle was also taken to Yale-New Haven after the crash, police said in the release.

Police said the woman’s injuries were not life-threatening. A hospital spokeswoman said Friday morning the woman, 22, was listed in fair condition.

An update on the man’s condition was not immediately available as his injuries were still being evaluated.

The SUV driver, a Meriden man, 61, was taken to MidState Medical Center for evaluation of injuries. A woman riding in the SUV was not hurt.

Police said the motorcycle had been southbound on North Colony Road when the crash happened. Investigators said the Meriden man had been turning left from North Colony to go westbound on Pent Highway.

As he turned his 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, police say he pulled into the path of the motorcycle, which hit the SUV at the intersection.
