Northridge woman killed in car crash near Los Angeles California
The coroner’s office Tuesday publicly identified the woman who was killed when the car in which she was a passenger in crashed into a utility pole near the Van Nuys Airport.
The crash was in the 17000 block of Roscoe Boulevard around 12:30 a.m. Monday, said Sgt. Paul McLaughlin of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Station.
Jenifer Benga, 19, of Northridge died at the scene, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
Firefighters used heavy rescue equipment to extricate the driver from the wreckage of the gold sedan, and transported him to a hospital in unknown condition, McLaughlin said.
The driver was not immediately arrested. Detectives were working to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
