Tonawanda ,NY : Four hospitalized with Serious injured after three-car crash on Thursday ,April 2nd 2015

Four people were hospitalized Thursday afternoon, one with serious injuries, after a three-car crash in the City of Tonawanda, authorities said.

A 65-year-old man was traveling east on Niagara Street at Kohler Street about 2:20 p.m. when his vehicle struck a gold Lexus SUV driven by a 60-year-old woman, said Charles Stuart, the city’s fire chief. The woman’s vehicle then went on to strike another vehicle, he said.

Two pedestrians, a woman in her 40s and her 16-year-old daughter, were hit by one of the vehicles while standing at the corner of Niagara and Kohler, in front of Mississippi Mudds restaurant, Stuart said.

The adult pedestrian was taken by Twin City ambulance to Erie County Medical Center while her daughter was taken to Women and Children’s Hospital with moderate injuries, the chief said. The male driver was taken to Kenmore Mercy Hospital and the female driver was taken to ECMC, he said. The third driver was not injured.

The Lexus also struck a utility pole at the corner, causing wires to hang near the restaurant, which was evacuated as a precaution, Stuart said. There was a power outage in the area as a result of the accident.
